Medicare and/or Medicaid will cover the cost of hospice services for patients over the age of 65 who meet programs’ eligibility requirements. Private insurance companies, managed care organizations and workers compensation plans may also pay for hospice services. Patients are informed of any out-of-pocket costs, which are minimal, upon admission to hospice.
U.S. Veterans enrolled in the VHA Medical Benefit Package are eligible for hospice & Palliative care coverage if they meet the clinical need for services.
